Well, that’s disappointing…

I Emailed the creator of [https://cottonnoodle.com](https://cottonnoodle.com)

To write about my debugging of the site and how lovely it was and could she share the templates she’d created on github or such like etc and…sent her a link to my debugging and breaking of Pinegrow Parser on this forum and ..

the site has now been taken down ☹

I never had a reply, to any of the emails and now the email address returns as no known user.
☹

I hope I havent annoyed her, it was/is a lovely site.
I hope shes just doing some debugging /enhancing and it comes back up soon.

I just thought I’d post this in case someone was following the flow of the chat in
[https://forum.pinegrow.com/t/problems-with-error-checking-and-pinegrow-rendering-a-hugo-site-both-locally-and-via-url/10933/13](https://forum.pinegrow.com/t/problems-with-error-checking-and-pinegrow-rendering-a-hugo-site-both-locally-and-via-url/10933/13)

because currently, you can no longer check that site (and bask in its Glory. I love/d it .)

I hope its back up again soon.
right , thats all folks!

and PS, This DIscourse forums _rules_ are utterly retarded.

You cant post a simple reply in under so many characters, and now this classic one liner!

I tried posting this as

**Noodle no More**

Which is a whitty, simple and clever title.
BUT\>… oh no!

Not to Discourse it aint.
I got this…

 ![Screenshot 2025-07-17 at 23.52.17](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex036/uploads/pinegrow/original/2X/3/3f00a67571a8446136e68b7e47fc812250e6439f.jpeg)

_the title seems unclear. mostly the same letters over and over_.

just WTH is up with this retarded forums grammatical/Lexical dictums?

So not only do we HAVE to add garbage content to succinct replies, to make it _comply and fit_ a minimum number of characters,
But now we have to mix the letters up.. a bit more.
OK, I’ll add some really relevant Swahili!

UPDATE. - Loss of styling and Font, due to Linked Files _lost_ (and found) due to SHA fingerprinting after editiing/ de minifying.

Also, I found the source of the apparent _Missing Font_ rendering in PG while working on the remote/locally save site linked above and the missing styles when looking up the locally saved copy of the site to work offline on on and save edits.

It rendedered as shown in the Previous post,
which is now closed/locked, but Ive linked to the image following this.

[![](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex036/uploads/pinegrow/original/2X/8/83ed7a9e06d290b7ccd38fc6dcffdea9e3e14aed.jpeg) ](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex036/uploads/pinegrow/original/2X/8/83ed7a9e06d290b7ccd38fc6dcffdea9e3e14aed.jpeg)

it was to do with CSS Miniffication… sort of.
More to do with the SHA _Integrity_ fingerprint of that file.

so I had to research the error I was getting in the Brave Dev tools Debug window

Failed to find a valid digest in the ‘integrity’ attribute for resource 'http:/example.com/css/style.min. The resource has been blocked. [example.com/:1](http://example.com/:1)

and the actual error log was…

For the CSS file

```auto
cottonnoodle.com/:1 Failed to find a valid digest in the 'integrity' attribute for resource 'http://localhost/cottonnoodle.com/css/style.min.cb42786aa6b4e2d2678e6e3360b9fa18da572dc3c8212a19fd4682ba76d11cbd.css' with computed SHA-256 integrity 'IqCOd4s88dFqfnadHS0Awzql4ZVQRnTAcd8BKCrBfCQ='. The resource has been blocked.
```

and for the font,

```auto
cottonnoodle.com/:1 Failed to find a valid digest in the 'integrity' attribute for resource 'http://localhost/cottonnoodle.com/css/fonts.min.7a83ffa79db8acf7fde39855ddf21641cd40e88a38aec302c1930769401d436c.css' with computed SHA-256 integrity 'jufqL8xCXqNlZ6gcyHRmomVm7W8JtocwcP0tIy59MU0='. The resource has been blocked.
```

Well, in order to actually be able to READ the minified css in Pinegrow, Id prettified it or such like so it was humanly readable.

however!
That code now no longer matched its SHA integrity …fingerprint.. thing.
and the browser (not pinegrow,)

**BLOCKED** both of those files from loading, so no styles and no font.

So removing

```auto
integrity="sha256-eoP/p524rPf945hV3fIWQc1A6Io4rsMCwZMHaUAdQ2w=" crossorigin="anonymous"
```

from the CSS link declaration for css/style.min in the sites index.html header

```auto
 <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/fonts.min.7a83ffa79db8acf7fde39855ddf21641cd40e88a38aec302c1930769401d436c.css" integrity="sha256-eoP/p524rPf945hV3fIWQc1A6Io4rsMCwZMHaUAdQ2w=" crossorigin="anonymous">
```

allowed the site to render beautifully again
and
likewise process to view the **Turnip** font.

I worked this out by just googling the browsers web tools error console and finding the first result here.

> **[Got the following console error trying to follow Aisha's video: "Failed to...](https://teamtreehouse.com/community/got-the-following-console-error-trying-to-follow-aishas-video-failed-to-find-a-valid-digest-in-the-integrity-att)**

If there’s a more elegant solution. feel free to update me 🙂

Anyway, after all that,
the LOCALLY saved copy of the site now renders beautifully again,
with its Turnip fault too in the Brave Browser.

**BUT**

the strange thing is, Pinegrow, with its overly zealous (thankfully! or I wouldn’t have found all the errors) Parser,
DIDN’T seem bothered about the whole Integrity/SHA thing!
OR… it rendered the minified CSS file .. as humanly legible, automatically without changing anything, so the file and its integrity wasnt affected.

BUT I was then using VScode to check /edit the code and use the W3C html debugger plugin as suggested by @Emmanuel here

> [@Problems with Error Checking AND Pinegrow rendering a HUGO site, both locally and via URL](https://forum.pinegrow.com/t/problems-with-error-checking-and-pinegrow-rendering-a-hugo-site-both-locally-and-via-url/10933/6):

> Pinegrow’s HTML parser is stricter than a browser to function correctly. This is an important part of how the app works. Pinegrow doesn’t correct errors; it just highlights them when it detects them. The checking process isn’t perfect and might miss some errors, especially if there are a lot, which could impact how the app operates.

and installed a _prettifier_ to be able to read the _no longer_ minified code and saved this file.
thereby rendering the SHA integrity null and void.

I’m not sure if PG displays minified CSS in humanly readable format by default.

So if anyone else is working on remote sites using Pinegrow and/or browser dev tools and looses styling/fonts etc, when mirroring locally or indeed just unminifiying things,

This might be a **Gotchya!** To look out for.

I’ve never seen it before.
