# Why are the same classes made?

Hi @alexseo,  
Pinegrow doesn’t really “know” what is in your stylesheets, so if you create a class multiple times it has no way to know that particular class is already there. If you want to add to a ruleset, select it in the Style panel. If you want to add a class to the element, use the Property panel.
