Dilemma with errant code in Master Page

I’ve just noticed that I have the following code situated just below my Head.

but for some reason I don’t have a closing Body tag anywhere on my Master Page or the 50 others based on it.

Could someone please tell me if it goes before or after the closing Script at my page bottom?

How do you show Code in this forum? I used code /code with brackets but it’s invisible.

I figured out enough to put it at the end of the page but can’t understand why it got deleted in the first place.
