I recently posted a terrible visual bug with Pinegrow and noodling around the forums I found mention that Pinegrow doesn’t have any way to check for updates or download the latest version.
I have since found that my version was Pinegrow 9.0 and Pinegrow 9.0.1 is the latest version.
The support system says I should have received an in-app notification when the update was announced (if I did, I missed that on my ultrawide monitor) but if I did miss it, then there is no further prompt or reminder.
I’m confused why I’m subscribing every year for not insignificant monies (to me who is not a professional and not using this for income) for a product that unlike virtually every other piece of software available, doesn’t have it’s own update handling code?
Surely, the 9th iteration of this software should have this basic functionality by now, no?
Is this on the roadmap, and if not, then why not? It very well should be.
I’m very sorry that my ‘tone’ came out in a way I didn’t mean it to. Yes, I am on the spectrum and yes, my social skills aren’t fantastic and I’m of an education where my writing skills are always ‘professional’ in tone (as millennials like to criticise) and not informal - as informality in writing is only kept for family/friends, but – I am being completely honest here – I literally can’t see what I said or how I said it was ‘wrong’, so if you care to help me out and point out the bits that came over in an unintended way, please let me know.
Please.
Secondly, with regards to Pinegrow not having an ‘update’ feature. I got that from the documentation and the fact there is no ‘Check for Updates’ anywhere in the software. Here is the documentation URL.
Note the 2nd paragraph:
So I don’t think it’s fair to say I have a tone or am being unnecessarily critical for bemoaning the lack of an almost ubiquitous software feature, when the said software clearly states they haven’t implemented it.
Now, yes, this documentation is 6 years old, but it’s still the current documentation, so it shouldn’t fall on me to not assuming this is still the official Word on the matter and have to go into the support forums to see if it’s been superseded. However, before I found that documentation I DID do the forum search on updates and this is what I found:
So I’m sorry if anyone takes offence at anything I’ve written on this post or any other, my social and writing skills not withstanding, no mean spirited or anger, upset or bad-ness was intended, ever.
