Newcomer trialling PG as a possible long-term tool. Some reasonable background in HTML and CSS albeit quite rusty currently but much less familiarity with JS frameworks but which I might need to use in future. My requirement is primarily to build technical.websites, sometimes just single page or SPAs for specific individual applications.
Rather tempted by PG because it seems to allow me much closer to underlying clean code than many other website builders, albeit with a super-busy UI. But PG seems to focus largely on HTML/CSS with any JS limited to what’s needed to support individual design components.
My question is about how easy it is to add more JS or use of eg React ecosystem into a project. What’s the workflow involved in this? Appreciate that this may result in an ‘it all depends…’ answer, but some general pointers would be very helpful. I’m not looking to build any super-complex sites or anything CMS-like, but what I would want to do is pull in and use data from some third-party sites via their API or eg from an MQTT broker.
If you like Vue.js, checkout Pinegrow Vue Designer at https://vuedesigner.com/. The start screen comes with a bunch of quick start templates when you click on New Project button.
Yes, I did notice the Vue Designer with interest, but I don’t know Vue at all and it seemed simpler to start with React if possible. But my priorities right now are:
Try to understand if PG will fit my needs and, in particular, if it will allow me easily to add.small amounts of custom JS into the code in order to pass third party data to and from my new site/app.
Focus on the main PG program and become proficient in using it.
This may take a while, but afterwards would be the time I think to look at eg Vue Designer.
