Pinegrow-atom with Pulsar-edit the revived Atom editor performs perfectly

Pinegrow 9.3 PRO integrates well with Pulsar 1.32 the maintained fork of the Atom editor. System: LinuxMint 22.3.

Pulsar is maintained by volunteers now that Atom was sunset by Github.

Pulsar: A community-led, hyper-hackable text editor
Pulsar is a fork of the discontinued Atom editor — assuming its mission of being a zero-compromise combination of hackability and usability.

To use pinegrow (9.3 PRO) pinegrow-atom (v0.1.0 - First Release) with pulsar (1.132.1) in LinuxMint {22.3 kernel 6.14.0-37-generic) is quite straightforward. All you need to do is to:

  1. install the pulsar-edit Pulsar → Download Pulsar and
  2. from the Package Manager menu" within pulsar install the “pinegrow-atom” package,
  3. start both pulsar & pinegrow then they communicate editor changes to each other. See atom-pinegrow readme.
    .
In my experience everything functions just as outlined in the documentation which accompanies the package. The package retains “atom” within its name as pinegrow-atom but pulsar should manage all other references to atom.

On the Pinegrow website I found this message:
“IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT : Since GitHub has discontinued development and support for Atom, the Pinegrow extension for Atom is no longer available or supported. We recommend switching to Visual Studio Code if you wish to continue using the Pinegrow extension.”

Thanks Pinegrow for a wonderful web editor. From a previous Dreamweaver user.

Please continue to keep available pinegrow-atom
