Feature Requests: "Writing Mode" Option; Copying Links, Image Sizes, Spell Check, Table Editor, Et al

Hi Matjaz & Team. Thank you for creating Pinegrow; after experimenting with it for a few days, I decided to become a paid user. I have used it on and off for several weeks now. I very much appreciate a web creation app that allows you to not only work visually but also simultaneously see and edit the underlying code.

Please let me know if I overlooked anything — and I looked at the promo for the new Pinegrow 8 version, as well — but I believe that Pinegrow doesn’t currently do any of the following, and I would really like to see this functionality added:

  • Copy Links Visually. If you copy text that is a link (i.e. a href) in visual mode, it seems to always lose the link upon paste. It would be much better for it to keep the link when moving linked text around without having to dip into code view.
  • Autocomplete Image Sizes. In code, when you have the image path specified already and you type width or height attributes, have these autocomplete with the image size. This was standard even with decades old versions of GoLive and Dreamweaver.
  • Integrated Spell Check. Pinegrow really needs spell check functionality; there are other users requesting this addition, as well.
  • Table Editor. There definitely are times when I have a table and would like to be able to select and resize or delete a column and there appears to be no way to do this conveniently within Pinegrow. Moving a column of data would be useful, also. For rows, it is easy enough to do this within code view, but a real hassle for columns. Other users would like this, too.
  • “Writing Mode” Option. It would be ideal if you could turn off the box selection function in visual mode for specific tags — generally just p, blockquote, and li would be sufficient — to make it easier to write content directly in Pinegrow. As is, it can be awkward for writing. I like that it creates a new “box” for each paragraph if you hit return (except that it doesn’t create a new “box” if you hit return in the middle of a paragraph). I don’t like that it leaves new p tags on the same line within code view. As is, it also is quite awkward to move paragraphs around or make changes within paragraphs during the editing process. Making this smoother, more like a word processing program and a little less like a code highlighter, would be fantastic.
  • Open Files Automatically. If you double click on an HTML file in the macOS or drag a file to the app, it needs to open in Pinegrow. This seems to not work, even after selecting Pinegrow as the default (and the icons are updated to indicate that it worked). Navigation from within the “Project” sidebar works fine, but for a single file it is often slower and more cumbersome to access.
  • Reduced Nagging. The option to turn off the syntax errors “nag” for a specific issue that it flags every time without turning off other nags. Essentially bothering you twice — apply changes and proceed and then refreshing the page and sending you back to the top — on every code edit is excessive for a single sitewide “error” that works without issue. A checkbox to “don’t mention this error” again, but still mention any different errors that are unique to a specific page, would be wonderful. In the event that someone did accidentally mangle their code, the backup files should be sufficient for a fix. How about also adding a suggestion for how to fix whatever it thinks is the problem and the option to ignore it and turn off the nag?

Thank you, again, for the hard work on Pinegrow. I look forward to seeing its continued improvements, also!

I’d also like to see Spell Check and Reduced Nagging

Personally - I think folder & File management with dynamic link updating… (if thats the correct term) so that you can move and rename folders & files in the PG “Project” panel, and the site keeps structure in tact.
