They are a 3 man dev team. I could be wrong… but that could be a bit of a time pressure kind of thing, as 5.0 doesnt even have release candidates out yet…

Short answer: We closely follow WP devpt. and Pinegrow WP will be updated as soon as any major WordPress change will occur.
